MANCHESTER, NH (March 12, 2008) – Carpet One Floor & Home held its third annual Retail Sales Professional Convention (RSP), with the theme “Profit from the Experience”, in conjunction with their member convention in Houston. The company introduced the RSPC two years ago in order to provide sales professionals with key skills and to get them more involved in Carpet One Floor & Home’s goals and initiatives.

With nearly 200 sales professionals in attendance, this RSPC was the largest and most successful to date. Sales professionals were offered a range of training sessions. Market It! included effective prospecting, networking, and generating new business. Sell it! featured peer panel recommendations on selling out of comfort zones, relationship selling, and product knowledge. And Install it! provided demonstrations on key areas of the installation process in a variety of surfaces to help sales professionals gain a better understanding of the process as well as what can go wrong during installation in order to improve the customer’s experiences.

Receiving valuable sales training and product knowledge from top industry leaders makes Carpet One Floor & Home sales professionals the most capable, knowledgeable, and trained retail sales staff in the floor covering industry. The RSPC is as a great educational opportunity with a focus on making consumers’ Carpet One Floor & Home experiences as fulfilling as possible.

"You can't put an amount on the experience your Sales Professionals receive after attending the RSPC," says Cathy Buchanan, owner of Independent Carpet One Floor & Home in Westland, Michigan. "The class 'Sell It!' left a lasting impression on our Sales Professional, Tricia. It was an emotional experience that will lead to profits down the road. Tricia knows how important she is to the success of our business!"

“I gained so much knowledge at the Retail Sales Professional Convention, and I absorbed it all,” says Loretta Castillo, Sales Professional for Bob Moss Carpet One in Monroe, Louisiana. “What I learned is that at Carpet One Floor & Home I can actually help people live better lives while doing what I love and fulfilling my dreams of being the best in my field. Attending the RSPC has really made me feel like I’m part of a family!”

“This is an extremely valuable resource for our members and their sales professionals,” explains David Hendler, Carpet One Floor & Home’s Vice President of Retail. “Sales professionals develop critical sales skills and knowledge about our products, which they can share with sales professional colleagues back home. The ultimate result of the RSPC, though, is that sales professionals leave knowing they are valued contributors to Carpet One Floor & Home, and without them we could never reach our full potential. Our sales professionals take their work seriously, and it’s great to see this investment by storeowners in their development.”

Through a special evening learning activity, the RSPC raised and donated nearly $5,000 to the Floor Covering Industry Foundation in the name of the Alan Greenberg Memorial Fund to honor the late Alan Greenberg, co-founder of Carpet One Floor & Home. In addition, Carpet One Floor & Home announced a sales professional welcome mat design contest. The winning sales professional design will be featured in the fall 2008 Carpet One Floor & Home Welcomes Your Support Campaign.
